Nassourdine Imavov Calls Out Popular MMA Page for Twisting His Words

Nassourdine Imavov

Nassourdine Imavov has urged a popular MMA page on X not to twist his words. For context, in a recent interview with RMC Sport Combat, Imavov said that his focus is on the UFC belt and not champion Khamzat Chimaev. ‘The Sniper’ confessed that he has already imagined that Chimaev might move up to light-heavyweight.

However, that wouldn’t change anything for Imavov, as from the beginning, he has always wanted not to face Khamzat Chimaev but to take the UFC belt. He said:

“I’ve already imagined in my head that Khamzat might move up. That wouldn’t change anything. All I want from the beginning is not to face Khamzat, it’s to take the UFC belt. In February, there’s Strickland vs Hernandez, and I believe, hopefully, the winner will be Strickland, so this could be a fight for the belt.”

Popular MMA page on X, @DovySimuMMA, posted:

“Nassourdine Imavov says he hopes Khamzat moves up to LHW but is ready even if he doesn’t.”

Reacting to this post, ‘The Sniper’ wrote:

“Don’t twist my words, man!”

Khamzat Chimaev and Nassourdine Imavov Hesitant to Face Each Other

Both Khamzat Chimaev and Nassourdine Imavov have similar sentiments when it comes to locking horns with each other. In the past, Chimaev had asked Imavov to prepare for the title shot until he recovers and is back to defend his throne.

Chimaev, however, wants to avoid the Imavov matchup due to personal ties and also because of the relationship between their countries, Dagestan and Chechnya. Imavov too feels the same way.

The Chechen-born Emirati will, however, fight ‘The Sniper’ if Imavov and the promotion want. Chimaev has also stated that he won’t object if Imavov can wait for a title shot till ‘Borz’ moves up. He recently told ESPN MMA:

“He’s a good guy. Like I know him, he knows me, we know each other. If you ask me, I don’t want to fight this guy because we know each other. Like a Muslim, he’s from Dagestan, and you know how is Dagestan Chechen people are. Like, there will be a lot of drama on the internet… But if UFC wants it, bro, I’m never going to say no. If the guy wants it, I tell his manager as well. I’m like brother, if Nassourdine wants, I will do no problem. If he says it can wait till I move up, I’m not going to say no. I want to fight this guy. So for me, it doesn’t matter.”
