Michael Chiesa Got Too Drunk & Was Escorted Out Of UFC 269

A “drunk” Michael Chiesa injured himself while celebrating after his long-time teammate, Julianna Pena, scored one of the biggest upsets in MMA history by beating Amanda Nunes at UFC 269.

‘The Venezuelan Vixen’ shocked the world last night when she put her hands on Nunes in the second round before choking out the now-former bantamweight champion.

ESPN MMA posted the below video that showed lots of famous faces reacting to Pena’s seismic upset.

In the clip, Chiesa can be seen hopping the fence and falling over before sprinting away from the shot.

According to Dana White, ‘Maverick’ may have had too much to drink and subsequently injured himself while trying to hop into the cage to celebrate with Pena. The UFC president says Chiesa was subsequently escorted out of the arena by police.

“How do I say this without embarrassing the guy,” White said at the UFC 269 post-fight press conference. “He had a little bit too much to drink this evening. When she won, he freaked out and tried to jump into the octagon and fell down on his face, cut his eye and busted his eye open, then was arguing with the police that he needed to get into the octagon and be with her, because that’s his teammate.

“[The police] dragged him out, got him outside and calmed him down in the back, and I went back and talked to him for a minute, and we’re all good.” (Transcribed by MMA Fighting)

Michael Chiesa Isn’t Having The Best Year

After starting life at welterweight with four straight wins, the wheels have metaphorically fallen off for Chiesa in the back end of 2021.

The 34-year-old has suffered back-to-back- defeats against Vicente Luque and Sean Brady.

Despite that Chiesa remains in the welterweight top 10 and will fancy himself to rebound against whoever it is he will face next.

Right now, his next opponent is probably a mean hangover after a night of celebrating Pena’s historic win.
