Michael Chandler: I Might be Delirious but I am Still Fighting Conor McGregor

Michael Chandler's future

UFC veteran Michael Chandler has given his updated thoughts on potentially squaring off with Conor McGregor.

For many years now, dating all the way back to when he first debuted with the promotion, Michael Chandler has been calling for a fight against Conor McGregor. After their season coaching on The Ultimate Fighter, it seemed as if the bout was close to getting booked. Unfortunately, after a long delay before finally getting booked to face him, Chandler was left frustrated when Conor had to pull out of their scheduled contest due to an injury.

Some felt like Michael Chandler vs Conor McGregor could take place on the upcoming UFC White House card, but recently, Dana White has made it clear that they have moved on from that idea, and that they are instead going in a different direction for the Irishman.

Even with that being the case, Michael Chandler still recently took the time to discuss the outside possibility of him taking on Conor in the future.

Michael Chandler discusses Conor McGregor fight

“I still think it’s happening. You can call it delirious, you can call it whatever you want, but until a door is slammed in your face and that door is locked and the key is thrown away, you never give up hope. So we’ll see. There’s talks happening right now and we’ll see how it plays out. I want it to be a big fight that is indicative of how big the White House is, man. “

“Timing doesn’t work out really great, but like Max Holloway for the BMF belt, does he get past Charles Oliveira? You know, Paddy Pimblett – there’s a whole story there where I took that fight on very short notice, coming off of an injury, basically coming off the couch, coming out of the rehab room, and made that decision to make that walk again because I wanted to get back in there.

“I was not happy with that performance. I feel like I was somewhat of a shell of the fighter that I actually could have been and should have been… Anyone who is hungry and anyone who can get me closer to that title. I still believe I got a lot of tread left in the tires.”
