Michael Bisping Wants Anderson Silva Tested Following Viagra Saga

The UFC broke news on a huge fight last week, announcing that legendary former middleweight kingpin Anderson “The Spider” Silva would be facing off with veteran divisional mainstay Michael “The Count” Bisping in the main event of February 27’s UFC Fight Night 83 from London.

This fight will mark Silva’s first since his UFC 183 no-contest against Nick Diaz. The Brazilian originally had scored a unanimous decision victory, but the MMA world was shocked when he had tested positive for multiple performance enhancing drugs (PEDs), changing the outcome of the bout.

After a somewhat baffling defense in front of the Nevada Athletic Commission in which Silva blamed the positive test on a faulty sexual enhancement pill, “The Spider” was handed a year long suspension.

Speaking on the fight today (December 29, 2015), “The Count” can’t seem to get passed the suspicious events, claiming that he wants “arrogant” Silva to be strictly tested leading up to their bout:

“I’m blown away by his arrogance,” the Brit said on today’s media conference call. “How on earth do you expect me not mention that in your last fight, you tested positive for three banned substances? It’s very relevant, so of course I want him to be tested. The fact that he wants me to not mention it, to just brush it under the carpet? I’m blown away by his arrogance.”

While Silva was indeed suspended, the former champion still insists that he was innocent, saying that he has never cheated throughout his illustrious career:

“I took a supplement that was contaminated,” Silva said through his interpreter. “My conscience is clear. I know that I never cheated.”

With the UFC’s new partnership with the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) in full effect, I would have to assume that both men will be frequently tested leading up to the fight.

Hoping that both fighters are clean, who are you predicting to come out on top?
