Khamzat Chimaev launches a shot at Alex Pereira and Glover Teixeira

UFC middleweight champion Khamzat Chimaev has taken shots at Alex Pereira and Glover Teixeira as fans continue to question whether he’ll move up to the light heavyweight division.

Right now, Khamzat Chimaev’s future is pretty uncertain. While there are a handful of possible contenders at 185 pounds, there’s every chance that he makes his way up to 205 pounds in an attempt to win a second world title. If he does, he could face off against Alex Pereira, but in equal measure, ‘Poatan’ hasn’t been shy about his desire to make the shift up to heavyweight as he pursues an unprecedented third world championship in the UFC.

Khamzat Chimaev’s ability to take away his opponent’s will to fight is incredible, and it always has been. Still, he’s only human, and anyone that stands across from him has a chance to make some magic happen. The Pereira fight certainly sounds appealing, but Alex is someone who chases history – and he probably doesn’t have a whole lot of time left in his career.

In a recent series of tweets, Khamzat Chimaev made the decision to really go after both Pereira and Glover Teixeira.

“BORZ 15 W Cama 13 W, and 3 losses. Only this is the difference between us [laughing faces]”

Chimaev proceeded to post images of both Pereira and Teixeira losing, via knockout and submission respectively at the hands of Israel Adesayna and Jiri Prochazka. Of course, Pereira went on to defeat Jiri twice.

“If you show respect  I show back respect, cama team talk too much that’s why no respect anymore.”

Chimaev isn’t afraid to go after what he wants, and if the UFC deems it necessary, there’s a chance we could see this kind of fight take place later in the year.
