Khabib Nurmagomedov’s cousin, Usman Nurmagomedov, believes Conor McGregor won’t show up for UFC 329.

After 5 years, “The Notorious” is finally going to return to the octagon on July 11 to run it back with Max Holloway in the main event of UFC 329. To prepare for this five-round welterweight clash, the Dubliner has been training relentlessly and even eating, sleeping, and living in the gym.

Recent training footage and clips show he is in excellent shape and appears as sharp as ever, despite being away from competition for nearly half a decade.

However, reigning PFL lightweight champion Usman Nurmagomedov still believes McGregor won’t show up for the Holloway rematch.

Usman Nurmagomedov says Conor McGregor will not show up for the UFC 329 Max Holloway rematch

Conor McGregor’s last fight was in 2021, during which he suffered a catastrophic leg injury. After recovery and rehabilitation, he was going to return in 2024 to fight Michael Chandler at UFC 303. But a toe injury forced the Irishman to withdraw. From 2024 to 2026, BKFC duties, legal issues, and several other reasons kept McGregor occupied, and although he teased a comeback many times, it never materialized.

However, this time things look good, but the undefeated Nurmagomedov believes something similar to UFC 303 can happen, and ultimately, McGregor will not fight Holloway in July. During a recent interview with Home of Fight, he said:

“First of all, I don’t believe he’s [Conor McGregor] going to come back. Even if he does come back, I don’t think he will beat [Max Holloway]. Because 5 years away from the sport is too much. Very long.”

Lastly, the 28-year-old added that if “The Notorious” does return and beats “Blessed,” which, to the former, sounds almost like a pipe dream, then it will be good for MMA and draw more fans back.

“If he beats him, this is good for MMA. More fans come back. It is what it is. Yes, [Conor’s a star.]
