Ian Machado Garry eyes Sean Brady #1 contender fight, threatens Pimblett and Covington
Ian Machado Garry has sent out a few warning shots to some of the top contenders in his division, and a surging UFC lightweight star even caught a stray as well. In an interview with GamesHub, Machado Garry fired off at the number two-ranked welterweight Sean Brady, with the latter previously intimating that the former has been ducking him in recent times.
Refuting the ducking accusations coming from Brady as of late, Ian Machado Garry said,
“I’m in a position where I have proven time and time again that I’ll fight anyone, anywhere, anytime, and I’m as game as game gets. So I want it publicly announced that if me and Sean Brady are fighting, it’s the number one contender fight. So Sean Brady should shut up and let me do all the heavy lifting and he just needs to show up on fight night and lose. I have never ducked anyone in my life and I never will.”
Brady wasn’t the only one to receive some of Machado Garry’s venom, as he also took shots at Paddy Pimblett and Colby Covington, with the two engaging in some loose public talks about wanting to fight each other. Turning his attentions to the surging lightweight contender and the former interim UFC welterweight champion, Machado Garry stated
“If Paddy [Pimblett] fights Colby Covington, I’m going to go up to Liverpool, I’m going to injure Paddy and I’m going to step in that fight. Paddy, it has nothing against you. I will break your leg so I can fight that c**t. He will never back it up and the last person Colby’s gonna step in the octagon with, is me. That guy’s a piece of s*t.”
Ian Machado Garry dubs UFC titleholder the best in the history of their division
Ian Machado Garry wasn’t solely involved in trash-talking expressions during this interview, as he also heaped some big praise on a reigning UFC champion heading into their first title defense in the coming weeks. The number six-ranked welterweight contender shouted out the current heavyweight champion, Tom Aspinall, who prepares to defend his crown against Ciryl Gane at UFC 321 on October 25th.
When offering up his prediction for that UFC Abu Dhabi-based pay-per-view headliner during the same GH interview that has been referenced, Machado Garry quipped,
Tom Aspinall sparks him [Ciryl Gane]. I don’t see that fight getting out of the first round, right? I think Tom is phenomenal. I think he’s absolutely the best heavyweight we’ve ever seen in the UFC, and now he’s got the belt, he is the champion.”
Aspinall had a bit of fun cageside recently with Machado Garry, as well as Carlos Prates at UFC Paris, as evidenced by the heavyweight titleholder’s YouTube page.
