Henry Cejudo Thinks Dustin Poirier Retires With UFC 269 Win

Henry Cejudo

Former UFC flyweight and bantamweight champion Henry Cejudo retired on top, and he thinks Dustin Poirier could do the same thing at UFC 269.

Nearly two years after Cejudo retired from the UFC, he thinks that Poirier may hang up the gloves with a win this weekend. Poirier will challenge lightweight champion Charles Oliveira for the belt at UFC 269.

During a recent episode of The Triple C and Schmo Show, Cejudo explained why he thinks Poirier may call it quits with a win over Oliveira.

“I do believe that Poirier wins,” Cejudo said. “You heard it here first, I do believe he will retire. Because when a fighter starts thinking about retirement, it’s true, you should retire, and I feel Dustin Poirier wins. I think he wants to leave on top.”

I’ll be surprised if he doesn’t retire. But when somebody thinks about retirement, you might as well do it, and I think Dustin Poirier if he wins, he will retire.

Henry Cejudo Retired After Beating Dominick Cruz At UFC 249

Before he retired following his win over Dominick Cruz at UFC 249, Cejudo catapulted to one of the best fighters in the world with championships at flyweight and bantamweight. He earned the vacant bantamweight title over Marlon Moraes while he was the flyweight champion after TJ Dillashaw was served a two-year USADA suspension.

Poirier has been relatively non-committal regarding his fighting future past UFC 269. While he hasn’t openly said he intends to retire after this next fight, he hasn’t outwardly denied it when asked by the media.
