Glover Teixeira vs. Ovince St. Preux Headlines UFC Nashville

The UFC is set to head to Nashville, Tennessee to host a Fight Night show on August 8, 2015, and it looks as if the promotion has its main event.

No. 7-ranked light heavyweight Ovince St. Preux played collegiate football for the Tennessee Volunteers and recently expressed his interest in competing on the card. He and his management team even had an opponent in mind, as OSP wanted to face Tennessee native Quinton “Rampage” Jackson. It was made clear tonight (May 20, 2015) that St. Preux will indeed fight on the card, albeit not against “Rampage”.

Ariel Helwani appeared on tonight’s edition of UFC Tonight to announce that St. Preux will headline the Nashville card against No. 6-ranked Glover Teixeira.

Starting his UFC career out at an impressive 4-0 the former collegiate football player St. Preux suffered his first setback when he lost to No. 5-ranked Ryan Bader last August. However, he has since bounced back scoring consecutive knockout victories over Mauricio “Shogun” Rua, and Patrick Cummins. OSP will look to continue his climb up the 205-pound ladder come August.

Teixeira similar to St. Preux, started out his UFC career on a winning streak, compiling five-straight victories before meeting former divisional kingpin Jon “Bones” Jones. He most recently dropped his second-straight to now Bellator bound Phil Davis at UFC 179 last October. The Brazilian will look to get back to his winning ways against OSP.
