Gegard Mousasi Says Conor McGregor Called Him Out With Private Message

Coming off of his dominant win over Vitor Belfort earlier this month at UFC 204, No. 5-ranked middleweight Gegard Mousasi is looking to fight again before year’s end en-route to the coveted 185-pound title.

Following the contest Mousasi fired shots at various UFC stars including middleweight champ Michael Bisping, Anderson Silva, Georges St-Pierre, and 145-pound champ Conor McGregor.

Mousasi took to The MMA Hour earlier today, courtesy of MMA Fighting, to state that ‘The Notorious One’ didn’t take too kindly to his comments, and threatened him with a knife over a private message on Twitter:

“That ginger-headed f*ck is retarded,” Mousasi said. “In the interview I mentioned, they were talking about respect or whatever, and then he texted me on Twitter. He messaged me, and I said, ‘what’re you going to do with your 50kg?’ And then he was, I don’t know, he was philosophical or whatever the f*ck he was writing, he was like, ‘a knife is lighter than a pound, it can cut from ear-to-ear,’ whatever the f*ck he was writing.

“That guy is a bum. He’s a 50kg guy, what the f*ck is he going to do? I bet if he’s face-to-face, he’s not going to say that. But you know, Twitter gives some people courage.”

When asked if it was truly McGregor’s account, Mousasi was certain the account was the featherweight champion’s, and dared the Irishman to issue the threat face-to-face:

“No, it was him,” Mousasi said. “It was his account.”

“I don’t know what he was mentioning with the knife,” Mousasi said. “… I don’t have it with me now, but he put a lot of thought into his message. The guy has a lot of time, I don’t know.

“I said ‘say it to my face,’ but I bet he’s not going to do that.”

Speaking of ‘Notorious’, McGregor will challenge Eddie Alvarez for the lightweight title in the main event of UFC 205 live on pay-per-view (PPV), from the Madison Square Garden arena in New York City on November 12, 2016.
