Diego Lopes issues warning to Alexander Volkanovski and admits to mistakes in first fight
UFC featherweight contender Diego Lopes is ready to knock Alexander Volkanovski out as they prepare to clash in the main event of UFC 325.
This weekend, Diego Lopes will get his second shot at the UFC featherweight championship and Alexander Volkanovski when they collide in Sydney. While many expect Volkanovski to retain the belt and move on to pastures new, Lopes will understand better than most that this is his last chance to get one over on ‘The Great’ and become champion.
Diego Lopes’ skills are there for all to see and nobody can deny that he’s a great striker. Alas, because of how many other top names are contending for a title shot, he needs to prove that he deserves to be in there with the champ.
In a recent pre-fight media scrum, Diego Lopes had the following to say about both the first fight and their upcoming rematch.
Diego Lopes’ big prediction for UFC 325
“Yeah, I think I think it is. No, I have more confidence. I feel Volk’s power. He feel more power. I think both guy have more confidence, look for the finish. You know he, he say this it’s like, okay, I look for the finish this fight, I’m go to to finish him. I think this is a big mistake for him. If he try pressure me, you know, if he try pressure me, I think it’s a big mistake because I like the crash, you know. So, I think this the best thing for me.”
“Oh, yeah. It’s like I know I make a lot of mistakes the first fight with Volk. Uh, I try only finish here one big hit, you know, one big punch. After the second round when I’m dropping him, I feel okay, I have the power for finishing, you know, so I only looking for this. So I forget many things in my game plan. I think I fixed this in the training camp. I fix many things. So now it’s like, it’s completely different now.”
Get ready, folks, because this one looks set to be a real barnburner.
