Daniel Cormier Doesn’t Think Jon Jones ‘Beat’ Him At UFC 182

UFC 182 title contender Daniel Cormier was part of one of the biggest MMA feuds of all time recently. His long and storied beef with light-heavyweight champion Jon Jones was filled with controversial scraps and heated conversations, and had the whole MMA community firmly fixated on the fight.

Come fight night, it didn’t quite happen for “DC”, and he left the octagon on the wrong end of the judge’s decision. The American Kickboxing Academy (AKA) product was pretty distraught after the crushing loss, but sounds on the up as he speaks with Bloodyelbow.com:

“Jon won that fight. But after the fight, I have no doubt in my mind that I can beat that man. Nothing has changed. If we fought again, I feel like I will be even more confident that I can get the job done. He did not beat me. He won the fight.”

“He did not beat me up, and I did not beat him up,” said Cormier. “We were in a very competitive, hard fight. And if anyone believes that it was anything different, go back and watch it again and you’ll feel a little different after watching it.”

Perhaps Cormier’s renewed vigour has come since his training partner and heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez has returned to the gym:

Do you think Daniel Cormier has a chance at getting another shot at Jon Jones, and will he be able to beat the champion second time around? He certainly didn’t come as close as Alexander Gustafsson once did at UFC 165, and “Bones” now has a new challenge in Anthony “Rumble” Johnson to face.

Maybe Cormier will get a rematch with Jones, but who knows whether he’ll still be champ with a power puncher like Johnson next in line.
