Dakota Ditcheva Eyes “A Good Scrap” in Exciting PFL New York Return
Dakota Ditcheva has been outside of the Smart Cage for over a year but returns to the competitive fold at PFL New York tonight. The 28-year-old touched upon the exciting nature of this matchup during the PFL San Diego media week towards the ends of June with an appearance on Bowks Talking Bouts when the show planted it’s flag into California soil.
Discussing this fight with ex-Bellator stalwart Denis Kielholtz, one that was booked for February before ‘Dangerous’ Dakota Ditcheva sustained an injury, Ditcheva said [via Bowks Talking Bouts],
“Yeah, I think first of all, I’m just excited to be back. It’s nice to be against a striker. Hopefully, we can have a good scrap as the English would say [laughs]. But yeah, I’m excited. I felt bad pulling out of the fight in February. So, I’m happy that we were able to get it back on now. Obviously her coming off a win now after having a baby is good. So yeah, I’m excited.”
Referencing the emotional release of the Kielholtz bout falling apart for the PFL Dubai card and shedding tears during that moment in the context of this re-booking seeming like it’s on a bigger card, Dakota Ditcheva stated [via Bowks Talking Bouts],
“Yeah, for sure, a massive event. Yeah, it was a tough time. I’m an emotional person anyway. So I do cry a lot, but I cried a hell of a lot because obviously I’d come back off an injury and then got injured again. So, it was like a double whammy, which was not good for me as someone who loves to fight.”
“A lot of people see me on social media doing loads of different things. That’s cuz I got a good team around me that keeps me busy with other opportunities. But my first love is fighting, so it’s always tough to be away from that. But I’m back and that’s what I’m focusing on now.”
Dakota Ditcheva on if the road to pFL New York can eventually lead to Coronation Street
Many see this bout as a striker’s delight kind of battle where both have a multiplicity of tools in their proverbial toolbox but where it seems like it will principally be a stand up affair. When asked for her thoughts on the machinations of this matchup, Dakota Ditcheva quipped [via Bowks Talking Bouts],
“Yeah, for sure. I mean I know how aggressive she is. I’ve watched her fight. She likes to come forward as well sometimes. She always ends the round with like a strong forward, aggressive style and I feel like it’s going to be interesting. With us both being Thai boxers, strikers type thing, kickboxers, I think it’s just going to be really exciting, honestly.”
As mentioned, Ditcheva has also been ramping up her outside of the cage efforts which includes some acting endeavors recently during her down time from competing in MMA. Considering the English component that the PFL star proudly represents, when playfully asked if it is her big goal to get on Coronation Street someday, Dakota Ditcheva said [via Bowks Talking Bouts],
“Do you know what? If I got on Coronation Street, my nana would be watching, my dad would be watching, I’d be watching [laughs]. We used to love watching Coronation Street, Emmerdale, East Enders, all of that. So, maybe. You never know, you might see me there one day. That might be part of my acting career.”
