Conor McGregor Slams BMF Title Fight at 155, Reminds Fans It Was Founded at 170

Conor McGregor lays out demand for UFC return: 'I will only come back to a stadium'

Conor McGregor wants to add the BMF belt to his collection. The former UFC double champion, however, believes that the BMF title should be contested at 170 pounds.

The Dubliner is not happy that Charles Oliveira and Max Holloway, who will headline UFC 326 this weekend in a BMF title fight, had to endure drastic weight cuts.

Questioning the logic behind the weight cut for a BMF title fight, “The Notorious” told Smash Cast:

“Why go down to 155 [pounds] and drain ourselves, and then title it BMF? The BMF title was founded by Nate Diaz at 170 pounds. The creator of the belt. So the belt should be contested at 170 pounds, and I am up for it.”

Conor McGregor gives his two cents on UFC 326: Max Holloway vs. Charles Oliveira 2

Conor McGregor believes that this weekend at UFC 326, Max Holloway will once again beat the Brazilian submission artist. While giving his two cents on the headliner, he predicted the BMF title bout to be a ‘good fight with a similar outcome.’

“It is a great matchup, Holloway vs. Oliveira. I am very much looking forward to it. It is always exciting for me to see fighters rematch. It takes great courage and honour to do so, and I always respect it. Their last time out, it seemed Holloway broke Charles early in the fight, and it was then stopped. It was hard to tell whether it was a genuine injury or a caused one. It see a real good fight but with a similar outcome tbh. I think Max is light on his feet and can pop Charles and begin to break him again. It is a different Charles, however, so we will see.”

He added:

“I do not feel the BMF title is accurate here, also with both men suffering in the sauna to make the limit. There is zero BMF about this. For me vs. either opponent next, I feel supremely confident. I stop both men in their tracks. I am a bad man with a good heart, so I may add the BMF belt to my collection. Good luck with the event.”

Max Holloway is game to run it back with Conor McGregor

Max Holloway and Conor McGregor locked horns for the first time in 2013, where “The Notorious” got his hand raised after three rounds. Now, after nearly 13 years, both fighters have shown interest in a rematch.

McGregor, who last fought in 2021, wants to return this year. He has consistently expressed interest in fighting at the White House on June 14 or during International Fight Week in July, and has also shown interest in facing Holloway.

“Blessed,” too, has a similar interest, and this weekend at UFC 326, if he registers another successful title defense of his BMF championship, he wants to defend it against the Irishman next. He told Sportsnet:

“100% man. You don’t say no to Conor. It would be a fun fight. He got one on me, and if I have a chance to get one back on anyone… It would be fun. He looks motivated as hell lately, and it would be a fun fight. Never say never.”
