Cody Garbrandt Blasts Augusto Mendes In First Round

The fourth bout on the main card of UFC Fight Night 83 saw two undefeated bantamweights meet inside the Octagon at a catchweight. Cody Garbrandt (8-0) faced late replacement Augusto Mendes (5-1) in Pittsburgh.

Garbrandt attacked the leg of his opponent early. He then landed a straight right hand. “”No Love” landed a right hand, and Mendes went on his back looking for an armbar. Mendes couldn’t find the submission and stood back up. Mendes connected with an inside uppercut on his way out of the clinch. “No Love” starched Mendes with a right hand on the chin. He celebrated a bit early, but Garbrandt got the finish with two more punches.
