Christian Eckerlin Outworks Matouš Kohout, Snaps Two-Fight Losing Skid – Oktagon 85 Highlights
Germany’s own Christian Eckerlin earned his 18th career win at Oktagon 85, defeating Matouš Kohout after three hard-fought rounds.
Aside from a late-round flurry in the second from Kohout, it was all Ecklerlin in the first two rounds. Eckerlin mixed up his strikes and grappling effectively, going up 20-18 on all three scorecards.
That prompted Kohout to come out with a sense of urgency in the third. Pushing the pace, Kohout started to swing away, connecting with a stiff right just past the one-minute mark of the stanza. A minute after that, Eckerlin landed another well-timed takedown in the center of the cage.
With fatigue setting in, Kohout reversed position and went to work on top. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough for the Czech fighter.
Official Result: Christian Eckerlin def. Matouš Kohout via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 30-27).
