Carlos Condit Talks Robbie Lawler: The Champ Is Dangerous, But Basic

We are now less than a week away from the UFC’s first event of 2016, as UFC 195 is set to go down live on pay-per-view (PPV) on January 2, 2016 from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The main event features a highly anticipated welterweight title showdown between reigning 170-pound champion “Ruthless” Robbie Lawler and former interim title holder Carlos “The Natural Born Killer” Condit.

Both men are known for their vicious, relentless, and bloody styles and the clash of skill sets has fans waiting anxiously on the edge of their seats.

While some may have argued that Condit may not have deserved the shot, as he sits at only 2-3 in his last five bouts, the excitement cannot be held in.

“The Natural Born Killer” returned from a knee injury last May to score a lethal stoppage victory over former title challenger Thiago Alves.

This coming Saturday, however, he will have a tough test in front of him in the form of the champion. Since returning to the UFC in 2013, Lawler has won seven of eight with four finishes, and has looked rejuvenated and improved in the process.

The “Ruthless” one has established himself as one of the most feared men in the division, and while Condit notes how dangerous the champ is, he also feels as if Lawler is rather basic:

“Robbie is fairly basic in what he does, but he’s phenomenal in executing those basics and he’s very dangerous. But I feel like I have fought guys who bring the same skill set, but with not as much power. But, I feel good, I am able to adjust to different fighters, different styles, body types.” Condit told MMAWeekly.

Condit is indeed one of the most unorthodox strikers in the game today, and if he comes in tip top shape as he usually does, we should be in for quite a war.
