Bellator 151 Results: Darrion Caldwell Chokes Out Joe Warren

Joe Warren 135.2 vs. Darrion Caldwell 135.6

It was once again fight day here at LowKickMMA, and the talent on display tonight (Friday, March 4th, 2016) will come in the form of Bellator 151. Headlining the card are Joe Warren and Darrion Caldwell, but there’s a whole bunch of great fights also taking place on the rest of the main card.

Joe Warren and Darrion Caldwell met in a bantamweight bout in the main event of Bellator 151. Caldwell was impressive in this fight. Caldwell took him down early in round one and started to rain down strikes. Warren stood up moments later, landed a big elbow, but was dumped on his head by Caldwell. Caldwell then locked in the rear-naked choke and Warren went to sleep.

Gilbert Smith and Fernando Gonzalez met in a welterweight in the co-main event of Bellator 151. The story of the fight was Gonzalez taking him down and ground and pounding him throughout the fight. Smith found his range and was doing good on the feet, but the fight was fought on the ground the majority of the time. Through three rounds, Gonzalez earned a split decision victory.

Goiti Yamauchi and Bubba Jenkins met in a featherweight bout at Bellator 151. The first round was dominated by Yamauchi after he had Jenkins’ back and was working for a standing guillotine choke. In the second round, Jenkins took him down early in the round and dominated the round in guard in top position. In the third round, Jenkins took him down early and dominated with his ground and pound. Yamauchi kept going for submissions in this round but was not successful. After three rounds, the judges gave Jenkins the decision victory.

Opening the main card on Spike TV for Bellator 151 was Sirwan Kakai vs. Joe Taimanglo in a bantamweight bout. Taimanglo came out the quicker fighter and was throwing a lot of shots. Kakai went for a takedown in the first round, but was stuffed, and Taimanglo locked in a choke. Taimanglo then went for a guillotine choke, but could not get that either. Neither man did much in the second round. Kakai used his wrestling and clinch work to take over round three and Taimanglo was back peddling. A close fight that saw Taimanglo pick up the decision victory.
