Aljamain Sterling questions whether UFC will ‘ice’ him like they did in 2025
Former UFC champion Aljamain Sterling has questioned whether or not he’ll be put on ice by the promotion this year.
Aljamain Sterling has enjoyed a mixed start to life in the featherweight division after making his way up from bantamweight, where he became a world champion. He holds a 2-1 record at 145 pounds since returning, with his most recent triumph coming against Brian Ortega last summer. Ever since then, he’s been on the hunt for another fight, which he has yet to receive.
Aljamain Sterling has never been shy about voicing his opinion, even regarding the UFC and how it operates. He is hungry to prove himself and at this point in his mixed martial arts career, he may not have much longer to go before he decides to hang up the gloves for good.
In a recent interview, Aljamain Sterling had the following to say about what he wants to happen this year.
Aljamain Sterling considers his future
“I’m just here for a good time,” Sterling told MMA Junkie and other reporters. “I don’t have much time left in the tank, so I got to get it going if I want to try to get another belt. I have to start now. I hope they don’t ice me again like they did last year. One fight for the year, that was tough. I would like to get two or three this year. That’s the goal.”
“I would imagine so,” Sterling said regarding his next fight being dependent on the UFC 325 result. “I would like to see Volkanovski win, one of the OGs get it done again. But to win two times in a row against a guy who punches hard like Lopes, it’s a tough as, especially where Volks is in his career. I can see Lopes getting it done, but I’m pulling for Volk, and let the best man win. I’ll be there waiting.”

‘Funk Master’ has achieved a lot in his career and hopefully, he’s able to have one last run in an attempt to join the very exclusive two-weight world champion club.
