In our main event lightweight contest at UFC Hidalgo earlier tonight (September 17, 2016), No. 7-ranked Dustin Poirier clashed with No. 10-ranked Michael Johnson in a bad blood beatdown.

The two men came out looking to push the pace on one another and it resulted in Poirier getting a cut early above his eye. Shortly thereafter Johnson connected with a punch that sent ‘The Diamond’ crashing down to the mat, and was followed up with an onslaught of strikes before the bout was waived off.

Johnson would make an unkind gesture to his adversary following the trash-talk filled build up to the contest, but would later apologize for his actions on FOX Sports 1.

Former lightweight champion Anthony ‘Showtime’ Pettis would call out ‘The Menace’ to a possible showdown at the UFC’s upcoming 205 card in New York City. Johnson agreed to this and also suggested a matchup against Russian phenom Khabib Nurmagomedov as well.
