With his awaited return on the horizon pending the completed payment of his $75,000 NSAC fine, UFC welterweight Nick Diaz made headlines yesterday (Wed., August 24, 2016) when news came that he had supposedly been assaulted in an all-out brawl that involved four enraged men wielding chairs at staff outside Bellagio’s Hyde nightclub in Las Vegas.

This morning, however, word has arrived to the contrary that the altercation curiously never took place. A representative from Hyde nightclub said Diaz was not involved in any such scenario and remains welcome at the club in a statement to MMA Mania:

“There was no altercation inside Hyde Bellagio. We enjoyed having Nick with us and he is always welcome at Hyde.”

Interesting news to be certain, as TMZ had described a crazy scenario where Diaz had run into a bar patron on the way to the bathroom, adding that he didn’t want any trouble. But the man was supposedly joined by three friends who proceeded to drop Diaz to the ground, who got up to defend himself when the fight spilled out onto the Bellagio casino floor.

There the men allegedly began wielding chairs as they brawled with both casino and nightclub security forces until they were finally apprehended. Diaz was supposedly then asked if he wanted to press charges for the assault, to which he reportedly did not because he felt the men had gotten the worst of it.

Now the story has been reported as false, and Diaz hasn’t spoke up with any official clarification as of yet. We’ll keep you updated if and when any better details arise in this strange scenario.
