WSOF 15 Weigh-In Results: Melvin Guillard Overweight Again

Former UFC lightweight veteran Melvin’s Guillard’s struggles to make weight in World Series of Fighting (WSOF) continued at today’s (Fri., November 14, 2014) WSOF 15 weigh-ins from Tampa, Florida.

After missing weight prior to his WSOF 11 win over Gesias Cavalcante, Guillard came in at a hefty 158.8 pounds for his WSOF 15 title fight against Justin Gaethje.

Guillard had two hours to make the required title fight limit of 155 pounds, but wasn’t able to come close to 155 pounds, weighing in at 158.6 pounds on his second try. The bout has now turned into a three round non-title affair.

According to ESPN’s Brett Okamoto, Gaethje requested 50 percent of Guillard’s purse, a lofty number to which “The Young Assassin” agreed to:

WSOF President Ali Abdel-Aziz promptly said Guillard would immediately go to welterweight for his next bout with the promotion.

Featuring a middleweight title fight between champion David Branch and Yushin Okami, WSOF 15 will go down tomorrow night (Sat., November 15, 2014) from the Sundome in Tampa.
