Volkan Oezdemir Believes He Was The Better Man At UFC London

Former light heavyweight title challenger Volkan Oezdemir believes he ‘was the better man’ at yesterday’s UFC London.

He ultimately lost a split decision to rising star Dominick Reyes on the main card, yet many felt ‘No Time’ should have received the win. The former title contender revealed that even Reyes’ coaches told him he should have won:

“Even the coaches of Reyes came to me before the judges’ announcement and after the judges’ announcement and told me I was winning the fight,” Oezdemir told reporters after his split-decision loss to Reyes at UFC London. “I don’t want to say it’s (expletive). Maybe I should have produced a little more, but I clearly won the fight.

“I was the better man tonight, and unfortunately the judges didn’t see it that way.”

The loss makes it three straight for Oezdemir who started his UFC career by winning three straight fights in 2017. Still, Oezdemir doesn’t think Reyes was the toughest opponent he has faced in his UFC run.

“I think he was good, but I don’t think he was as good as other people I’ve fought,” Oezdemir said. “But at the end of the day, he passed the test. I definitely think I’m going to take the fight if we get a rematch.”

For the time being “No Time” will have plenty of time to figure out his next move. The light heavyweight division is in a bit of a revival, and that bodes well for possible match-ups for the knockout artist.

“Definitely a lot of different opponents I’ll be interested in fighting,” Oezdemir said.
