UFC women’s bantamweight starlet and WMC Muay Thai champion Valentina Schevchenko has been caught up in a harrowing situation in Peru. It happened last night (Monday May 30, 2016) in a restaurant that has apparently been a big target for armed robberies over the recent years. Schevchenko was with her coach Pavel Fodotov at the time, and he caught a bullet to the abdomen during the incident.

Three armed robbers took the establishment by storm, running in with their guns drawn, reportedly beating anyone who refused to give up their possessions and money.

As the assailants attempted to leave the premises, Schevchanko’s coach, who was carrying a pistol, opened fire. He was caught with return fire to the stomach, and Valentina rushed to his side in a crazy scene. Ironically nicknamed ‘The Bullet,’ Schevchenko is of Russian descent and has lived in Lima, Peru since 2008. She is scheduled to face Holly Holm at UFC on FOX 20 on July 23.

Here’s he video of the incident, in which three people were left seriously harmed, and one robber is confirmed dead.
Schevchenko’s coach is believed to be in stable condition after taking a round to the mid section, and is very fortunate that he wasn’t injured or worse. The robbers were reported to have got away with 5,000 soles, which is roughly $1500 USD, in the sixth incident that has happened at this very restaurant.

The two surviving robbers are still at large, and although Schevchenko’s coach managed to fatally wound one assailant, he’ll likely be unable to coach ‘The Bullet’ for her upcoming fight with the former champion Holly Holm.
