UFC Light Heavyweight Says Merab Dvalishvili Gets Shut Down by Petr Yan 10 out of 10 times
A UFC light heavyweight fighter thinks Merab Dvalishvili stands no chance against current and two-time UFC bantamweight champion Petr Yan.
Yan recently reclaimed the 135-pound title by spoiling Dvalishvili’s fourth title defense at UFC 323.
The first time ‘No Mercy’ and ‘The Machine’ had locked horns in 2023, Yan lost by unanimous decision and later claimed that he fought with a hand injury that contributed to his subpar performance.
However, in the rematch, Yan was able to expose ‘The Machine’ with great takedown defense. ‘No Mercy’ also went ahead in the striking exchanges, bloodied Dvalishvili’s face, and ripped heavy kicks to his Georgian foe’s liver, which had ‘The Machine’ screaming in pain. The 32-year-old also scored his own takedowns and didn’t melt under the pressure of Dvalishvili, and after five rounds, cruised to a unanimous decision victory.
This time, with no hand injury to limit his boxing, the Russian fighter looked unstoppable, which led many to contemplate how the first fight between the two would have played out if Yan hadn’t had an injured right hand.

In a recent interview with MMA Arena, a hypothetical question was asked to UFC light heavyweight Bogdan Guskov. The question was, under ideal conditions, if Merab Dvalishvili and Petr Yan fight ten times, how does Guskov think the bouts would go? In response, ‘Czarevitch’ said:
“Man, I’ll probably be biased here. I would give all ten fights to Petr [Yan]. I’m a big fan of his. I like his fights. I like the way he fights, his aggressive style. He really puts on a great show in the octagon. So yeah, I can say I’m his fan.”

‘The Machine’ and ‘No Mercy’ are expected to run it back and complete their trilogy in 2026, which is not tied at 1-1. Thus, fans will find out next year if Guskov is correct or not.
