UFC Fight Night 57 took place tonight (November 22, 2014) from the Frank Erwin Center in Austin, Texas, and featured several important bouts where the fighters pulled through to produce a very exciting card for the fans.

Arguably the most exciting fight of the night, was a Fight Pass-aired bout between Paige VanZant and Kailin Curran in a battle of women’s strawweight competitors. This bout started at a high pace which saw VanZant almost get finished in the first round. However, she battled back and scored a huge slam, followed by a flurry of shots that ended Curran’s night. Both women earned $50,000 for “Fight of the Night” honors.

Later on in the evening, a main card bout between Oleksiy Oliynyk and Jared Rosholt resulted in Oliynyk earned an extra $50,000 when he connected with a big left hand to Rosholt’s chin just minutes into the fight. He followed it up with strikes to secure a come-from-behind TKO win and a “Performance of the Night” Bonus.

The main event of the evening featured what may be seen as a number one contender bout between top featherweights Frankie “The Answer” Edgar and Cub Swanson. Many believed this would be a very exciting bout as well as a very close one, but it was anything but.

Edgar proved why he has been at the top of the ranks for years now, scoring numerous takedowns and dominating Swanson. To put the icing on the cake, “The Answer” sunk in a rear-naked-choke to finish the fight with just four seconds remaining to earn a well-deserved “Performance of the Night” bonus.
