Two More Fighters File Suit Against The UFC
News emerged today that two more ex-UFC fighters have filed suit against the promotion, in a month that has seen the revival of the monopoly debate sparked many years ago. The recent announcement of the UFC lawsuit has the promotion on the defensive, and there are those that agree, and those that really disagree with the UFC lawsuit.
Up to this point, we were only aware of Jon Fitch, Cung Le and Nate Quarry’s involvement in the class action case, but then Bloodyelbow.com reports that Javier Vazquez and Dennis Hallman are now also filing suit; Vazquez et al vs Zuffa LLC. Not only that, there are also at least six more unnamed parties who are filing suit against the major MMA promotion.
Hallman has fought several terms for the UFC, as a welterweight and lightweight. His first ever UFC fight can be dated back to UFC 29, where “Superman” submitted future hall of famer and welterweight champion Matt Hughes. Hallman’s last UFC fight was a UFC 140 submission win against John Makdessi, following which he was cut for not making the 156-pound lightweight limit.
Javier Vazquez had a single UFC fight; a decision win against Joe Stevenson at UFC Live: Kongo vs Barry in 2011. He retired after the win, having also served a five-fight stint in the Zuffa sister promotion WEC (World Extreme Cagefighting).
Little is known so far as to who else is involved in the case, but surely Wanderlei Silva is a candidate for one of the mystery six. Either way, there is power in numbers, and we’ll keep you posted when more names emerge in the UFC lawsuit picture.
