This Saturday night’s (January 3, 2015) UFC 182 will showcase one of the biggest grudge matches in MMA history when Jon Jones battles Daniel Cormier in the main event, but prior to the anticipated title fight, surging lightweights Donald Cerrone and Myles Jury will face off in the co-main event.

“Cowboy” comes in off of a surgical display of stand-up skill in his UFC 178 win over former Bellator champion Eddie Alvarez. With five consecutive victories in the octagon, the No. 4-ranked Cerrone would be on the cusp of a title shot if he can become the first man to defeat Jury.

The 26-year-old “Fury” won both of his fights in 2014, dominating Diego Sanchez at UFC 171 before knocking out Takanori Gomi in the first round at UFC Fight Night 52 from Japan. While those wins over two MMA legends were impressive, a prime Cerrone who is one of the best strikers in the talented 155-pound fray is a different challenge altogether.

It should be a firefight that could swoop in to steal “Fight of the Night,” and the winner will almost certainly find themselves on the short list of legitimate contenders to Anthony Pettis’ belt. Cerrone wont have too many other places to go, and Jury will likely lock up a shot at gold with one or two more quality wins.
