Movsar Evloev Says Beating Lerone Murphy Doesn’t Guarantee UFC Title Shot
No. 1 UFC featherweight contender Movsar Evloev is going to lock horns with the undefeated Lerone Murphy this weekend in the main event of UFC London. The Murphy vs. Evloev bout is a title eliminator. However, the undefeated Russian fighter thinks even if he beats Murphy this Saturday, it might still not be enough to secure a title shot.
During a recent sit-down with UFC on Paramount+, he said:
“No matter what I say, it doesn’t guarantee anything. So I’d love not to look ahead of my opponent. Once I get this victory, then I’m gonna think about what comes after that. For now, all concentration is on [Murphy], and I am going to give him the respect that he has.

Evloev (19-0) already boasts over Aljamain Sterling, Arnold Allen, Diego Lopes, and others. However, most of his wins so far in the UFC have come by decision, and he has yet to secure a finish. Because of this, his manager, Ali Abdelaziz, believes the 32-year-old hasn’t earned a title shot.
Meanwhile, No. 6-ranked featherweight contender Jean Silva has claimed that he’s fighting champion Alexander Volkanovski next and is on his way to UFC London to sign the contract.
Movsar Evloev believes the UFC wanted Diego Lopes to be champion
On UFC London media day, Movsar Evloev said that the UFC wanted Diego Lopes to capture the featherweight title at UFC 314, and Evloev was asked to stay ready for a brief faceoff with Lopes after the fight.
However, Alexander Volkanovski played spoiler by beating Lopes to recapture the 145-pound throne. The 32-year-old believes that “The Great” winning at UFC 314 forced the promotion to change its plans and delay his title shot. He said:
“They told me to be ready [to face off], maybe they expected Lopes to win, and Volk wins, and they changed their mind.”
