UFC President Dana White announced a few weeks back that newly minted middleweight champion Michael Bisping would be making the first defense of his title this upcoming fall against No. 13-ranked ageing veteran Dan “Hendo” Henderson, an announcement that has drawn quite a bit of criticism from the division’s elite.

No. 3-ranked Ronald “Jacare” Souza hasn’t appeared to be too pleased with the decision, and his manager, Gilberto Faria, recently said that “Jacare” vs. Bisping would be a ‘masscre’:

“(UFC President) Dana already knows it,” Faria told MMAjunkie in a prepared statement. “If a replacement is needed for Manchester, or the fans get to turn it around, ‘Jacare’ vs Bisping would be a massacre.

Faria claimed that fans are truly rallying behind the Brazilian contender and that there’s still a chance Bisping vs. Souza gets booked. The manager also continued to explain why he and his team are upset with Henderson receiving a shot at gold:

“We are seeing a lot of fans putting pressure on Dana and on Bisping, and ‘Jacare’ might still get the shot at Bisping,” he said. “The only thing that really bothers us was Bisping be able to ask for a fight against ‘Hendo’ and get his wishes fulfilled.

“We understand that Bisping is rolling with 10 good years of services for the company, but Dan Henderson still sits at number 13 in the ranking, lost 6 out 9 fights, his recent victory was against Hector Lombard that just came from a loss at welterweight division, so it doesn’t weight that much for a title shot.”

Although Bisping vs. Henderson has yet to be officially confirmed, White did say that the bout was being targeted for October in Manchester, England, meaning “Jacare” will likely have to wait for his shot at the champion.
