Machida says he’s ready to get back inside the Octagon

It has been 2 months since Lyoto “The Dragon” Machida was last seen inside the Octagon when he suffered his first loss to new champion Shogun Rua. Now Machida is training harder than ever and says he is now a complete fighter and wants to get back into action.

“He told me now he feels like a complete fighter,” said Machida’s manager Ed Soares when appearing on MMAWeekly.com Radio. “He knows what it’s like to win, he knows what it’s like to be a champion, and now he knows what it’s like to lose. He feels like a complete fighter, and I know without a doubt he’s going to come back a better fighter, and it’s just a matter of time before he has that belt around his waist again.”

Although a date hasnt been set yet for the former LHW champions return a few opponents have already been rumored. Some names that have been floating around are Rampage Jackson, Forrest Griffin, Rich Franklin and even a possible match up with fellow Brazilian Vitor Belfort. Although all these matches would be great there is only one man on Machida mind and thats Mauricio “Shogun” Rua.

“He’d love to fight Shogun again,” Soares commented. “It’s 1-1 now, you know what I mean? Let’s fight it again. But he’ll fight whoever. When the UFC is ready, they’ll give us that shot. We’d love to fight him right now, but whoever the UFC gives us is fine.”
