Kenny Florian joins the UFC's live event coverage team

5656719489 921e85635dLast week, word came down that Kenny Florian might have to retire due to a lingering back injury. Florian told the Boston Herald, “I’m just kind of in a holding pattern. That’s why I decided to do this commentary for the time being and take this next six months to really heal up and try to make some money on the side.

It seems as if that side job has become a little more lucrative and a lot busier as MMAJunkie.com is reporting that Florian will be joining Jon Anik as a member of the UFC’s broadcasting team. Florian and Anik will work the events that the UFC’s main commentary team of Mike Goldberg and Joe Rogan do not, mainly the events that will be broadcast of FUEL TV and FX.

Florian will get his first taste of working alongside Anik at a UFC event this Friday when the duo cover the UFC on FX fight card from the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee. The two previously worked together on ESPN’s “MMA Live.”

What do you think LowKick’ers, was Florian the right choice? According to MMAJunkie.com, other fighters that were in the running were Frank Mir, Rich Franklin and Stephan Bonnar.
