Jose Aldo Diagnosed With Kidney Stones, Will Not Miss Additional Time

The injuries just keep on rolling in for beleaguered UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo. News comes from UOL Esporte that Aldo is suffering from an unfortunate case of kidney stones in addition to the broken foot he suffered in his victory over Chan Sung Jung at last Saturday’s UFC 163.

It was reported earlier in the week that Aldo’s broken foot would most likely cause him to miss the rest of 2013. It seems that the kidney stones will not be the cause for any additional missed time.

Much has been made of Aldo’s drastic weight cuts down to 145, and the severe dehydration he puts his body through in order to make weight may have a lot to do with his current condition. Aldo discussed a possible move to 155, but it was quickly overturned by Dana White, who wants the champion to remain at 145.

It’s been a tumultuous few days for the Brazilian champion, who finds himself with a list of tough challengers at featherweight. Ricardo Lamas stated today that he’s willing to wait until next year for Aldo is he’s offered the fight. Aldo’s next opponent has not been confirmed as of yet.

We’ll have to wait and see just how long Lamas will potentially have to wait. It’s an exciting time for fans of the UFC featherweight division, so here’s to hoping that Jose Aldo makes a quick return to the octagon.
