Jessica Andrade Disposes Of Joanne Calderwood In First Round
A clash between two bruisers in the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s (UFC) strawweight division served as UFC 203’s opening bout on the main card. The two ladies throwing leather were Jessica Andrade (15-5) and Joanne Calderwood (11-2).
In under five minutes, “Bate Estaca” earned the 15th professional win of her mixed martial arts career.
Calderwood looked to keep her distance with low kicks early in the opening frame. She got in a clinch and landed some knees. Andrade landed a hook as “JoJo” leaned in. A cut formed over the eye of Andrade courtesy of Calderwood’s elbow. “Bate Estaca” scored a big takedown and moved to side control. Calderwood set up a triangle, but her opponent lifted her up and slammed her back down. Andrade landed some hammerfists to the body and some head punches. “”JoJo” went to stand up, but got caught in a guillotine choke and was forced to submit.
