GSP Responds To Khabib’s Fight Offer

Georges St-Pierre

Earlier today word arrived that longtime former UFC champion Georges St-Pierre would supposedly announce his retirement at a press conference in Montreal tomorrow. A fight with lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov had apparently fallen through. However, Khabib offered the fight to St-Pierre, and now it’s time GSP responds.

ESPN’s Ariel Helwani contacted St-Pierre to get his response to Khabib’s offer. The MMA great appreciated the current champ’s offer very much. But things just weren’t that easy, he claimed. According to GSP, all will be explained at the press conference:

“I saw what Khabib wrote, and I appreciate it very much. Unfortunately, these decisions aren’t up to us. I will address everything at the press conference tomorrow.”

St-Pierre has not fought since he won the middleweight title by submitting Michael Bisping at 2017’s UFC 217. The fight was his first in four years, and he vacated the title shortly after beating ‘The Count.’ He had teased a return at lightweight in order to face Conor McGregor or Khabib, but those plans appear to have fallen apart for now.
