Newly minted UFC interim featherweight champion Conor McGregor put on quite a show against Chad Mendes in the main event of of last night’s (Sat., July 11, 2015) UFC 189 pay-per-view (PPV) from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, defeating ‘Money’ with an emphatic second round TKO.

But it wasn’t without its adversities, as Mendes ground McGregor repeatedly to batter him with elbows. After going for a choke towards the end of the second round, Mendes appeared gassed from all the body shots he had absorbed early in the fight, and McGregor capitalized to score his biggest-ever win and assume his mantle as a truly elite UFC champion (even if it is only the interim).
