Conor McGregor provides positive training update ahead of UFC return
UFC star Conor McGregor has provided a positive update on how training is going as we get closer and closer to seeing him compete in mixed martial arts for the first time in five years.
As we know, Conor McGregor will make his return next month in the main event of UFC 329. He will be taking on former featheweight champion Max Holloway, who he was able to defeat over a decade ago. However, that contest took place at 145 pounds, and this one will be going down at welterweight, where ‘Notorious’ will try and use the size advantage to get him over the finish line.
For Conor McGregor, though, this is an interesting fight, and fans aren’t really sure what he’s going to look like. Perhaps he will roll back the years and look like the old Conor one more time, or maybe he will be overwhelmed by the sheer amount of weapons that Holloway possesses.
In a recent update, Conor McGregor made it clear that he seems to feel like things are going pretty well as we rapidly approach fight night.
Conor McGregor discusses positive training steps
“Pad work after my best spar yet. Christ is Lord [prayer emoji]”
While you have to take everything he’s saying with a pinch of salt, there’s no denying that Conor seems to be pretty focused as he prepares to make that walk to the cage. At this point, all we can do is wait and see how he looks when he gets in there, especially when going up against someone as incredibly talented as Max Holloway.
From a legacy perspective, the Irishman has already cemented his place in the record books by being the first-ever two-weight UFC champion to hold two belts at the same time. Unfortunately, things have been a bit more complicated away from his fighting career, but it’s unlikely we will see a bigger superstar than him anytime soon – and perhaps ever again.
As for the training photos, McGregor is clearly taking this seriously, and you would have to think he will be going in there with the intention of taking Max out early – because the longer this fight goes, the more we are going to see his cardio tested against one of the most durable guys in the history of the sport.
