Confirmed: Winner of Fitch vs Alves will get a title shot

  With Fitch expressing that it is no secret that he believes he is undoubtably the number one contender in the ufc’s  welterweight divison and said if he can stop the always dangerous brazillian “Pitbull” Thiago Alves at UFC 117, that he believes the UFC could not deny him of his rightful spot as numder one contender for the the UFC’s covident 170 pound Championship.

  At today’s UFC 117 press conference Dana White told media and confirmed that “the winner of this weekends ufc 117 welterweight match between arguably the number two and three ranked welterweights in the world Jon Fitch and Thiago Alves” will indeed be in line after Josh Koscheck to get his shot at the champ. It puts Koscheck and Fitch in a akward and difficult position if Josh were to win the belt because him and Fitch are teamates at AKA.

  Jon Fitch is quoted as saying in recent interviews that if Josh Koscheck were to best GSP on december 11th at UFC 124 and capture the welterweight title, that he would move up to the 185 pound division and compete there as long as his American Kickboxing Acedemy” teamate Kos was champ. But Dana seems to have other plans if it were to play out this way and said that “he’ll fight Koscheck”… This is bound to happen from time to time when you have two friends and teamates training under one roof. Jon said he isn’t looking past Thiago and if victorious this saturday that he will address this situation afterwards.
