Cain Velasquez discusses his shoulder rehab, says fighting Jon Jones “would be great”

Heavyweight Champion Cain Velasquez, who has been sidelined since capturing the title at UFC 121, talks about the progression of his shoulder injury and shares his thoughts on newly crowned Light Heavyweight champ Jon “Bones” Jones.  Velasquez says fighting Jones “would be great,” but admits that returning to the octagon still seems “so far away.””

Following his dominate first-round TKO victory over then-champ Brock Lesnar, Velasquez was set to make his first title defense against top contender Junior dos Santos before a torn rotator cuff forced the AKA trained Heavyweight out of the match-up.  With the Velasquez sidelined for much of the year, Dos Santos opted to take a coaching position opposite Lesnar on the thirteenth season of The Ultimate Fighter.  Once the show concludes, Lesnar vs. Dos Santos will headline UFC 131 on June 11th, with the winner emerging as top contender to face Velasquez upon his return.
