In a community full of discussions centered on knockouts, the money paid to fighters for said knockouts, and TRT, it’s refreshing to see some good will come from the world of mixed martial arts.

And today, UFC CEO Lorenzo Fertitta has given us just that.

When 19-year-old Jake Stoneking was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer at only 14 years old, he compiled a bucket list of things he wanted to accomplish before his time had passed. The No. 2 spot on that list was occupied by his goal of attending a UFC event, and once Ariel Helwani caught wind of Jake’s story, he contacted Fertitta via Twitter to see if he could get Jake into this weekend’s blockbuster UFC 171 event in Dallas. The CEO was quick to offer a resounding affirmation:

It’s quite the classy move from Fertitta, who has appeared to be the voice of reason in the UFC, offering a calmer side of things when UFC President Dana White flies off the handle at issues like Georges St. Pierre’s strange vacation of the UFC welterweight title.

Today, however, he’s handling an issue of a very different sort, and the CEO put a very compassionate foot forward. Stoneking, who hails from Chael Sonnen’s famous home of West Linn, Oregon, is currently undergoing an experimental procedure to hopefully extend his life by one more year.

We here at LowKick MMA wish Jake and his family nothing but the best, and hope they enjoy what should be an awesome card at UFC 171!
