The UFC injury bug has struck, yet again.

The UFC on FOX 4 bout between Heavyweights Ben Rothwell and Travis Browne has been shelved due to an injury to Rothwell's ankle just a week and a half out from the nationally televised event August 4, 2012. It had been heavily rumored that former Strikeforce and IFL Heavyweight Devin Cole may be stepping up to take Rothwell's place next Saturday. However, the UFC has since scrapped the bout altogether:

With the injury to Rothwell, this is the third bout from the original UFC on FOX 4 event which has had to be either dropped or adjusted. The first wasBrian Stann's injury which cancelled his fight with Hector Lombard and moved Lombard to UFC 149 this past Saturday. Then, Terry Etim was injured and Jamie Varner took his slot against Joe Lauzon.

Rothwell was coming off a knockout victory of The Ultimate Fighter season 10 runner-up Brendan Schaub. The fighter tweeted the following this afternoon:

UFC on FOX 4 takes place August 4 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. The main card will be televised on FOX with a main event Light Heavyweight bout between Mauricio "Shogun" Rua and Brandon Vera.

Devin Cole match up has been scrapped.

Browne has been completely taken off the card and DaMarques Johnson vs. Mike Swick has been bumped to main event.

    Confirmed via UFConFOX Twiter.

Hopefully this means Hapa can get another fight relatively soon and against someone that is actually ranked rather than a guy like Cole who was lucky to be top 30.

Yeah, I think Lombard officially shook my faith in the other promotions' rankings a bit.

@Searson. Why? Because he fought more cautiously than he usually does? He knew he was fighting a guy with KO power and he made a miscalculation in strategy. IMHO he won that fight and he probably stayed calm and restrained because he too thought there was no way he was losing on the score cards. I am not a huge Lombard fan but mark this; Hector Lombard is going to destroy the next guy he fights.

because a guy who was the best fighter from an entire organisation can't beat a guy who is a fringe top 10 fighter from one of the UFC divisions.

lombard officially shook your faith? Based on that peformance the guy looked no where near a top liner. Hows he gonna go when he actually fights a top 5 guy.

    umm?

I suppose you have no idea what he meant, considering you reiterate the same exact point he made....

lombard was highly regarded cause of his success elsewhere, and it was a giant flop, hence, his faith being shook in the legitimacy of other mma promotions 'stars' compared to those of the ufc...so how will he look when he fights a top 5 guy? like sh*T, and that's exactly what the other guy was saying
