Jordan Leavitt Hands Yadier del Valle His First Career Los - UFC Houston Highlights

Jordan Leavitt delivered a dominant performance against Cuban standout Yadier del Valle at UFC Houston.

It was all Leavitt in the opening round, who scored three takedowns and managed to keep del Valle on defense for a majority of the stanza.

It was more of the same in the second, though there was a brief stoppage in the waning seconds of the round after del Valle partially connected with an illegal upkick. Fortunately, the shot did not appear to land clean, and Leavitt was good to go after a few moments.

Aside from that brief pause, the second was another round largely dominated by Leavitt, who walked into the third sitting on a solid 2-0 lead.

Knowing this, Leavitt largely avoided engaging with his opponent, frustrating del Valle. Things finally started to go the Cuban’s way near the two-minute mark of the round, with del Valle successfully defending a takedown attempt from Leavitt and getting top control. However, Leavitt controlled del Valle’s posture from the bottom, preventing his opponent from getting off any real offense in the final few minutes of the fight.

Official Result: Jordan Leavitt def. Yadier del Valle via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28).
