Vinny Magalhães was cut from the UFC in 2009 after back-to-back losses to Ryan Bader and Eliot Marshall. However, according to the Brazilian-based MMA site tatame.com, the former M1 Global Light Heavyweight Champion is expected to return to the UFC on September 1 at UFC 151 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The UFC confirmed this with the following post on Twitter:

Magalhães originally came to the UFC through Season 8 of The Ultimate Fighter, with a TKO loss to Bader in the season’s finals. Since leaving the UFC, he has won seven of his last eight fights. Despite his five-fight win streak, with 4 of them under M-1’s banner, Magalhães had been in a very public and verbal war with the organization over his contract. M-1 finally said farewell to him this month and the Brazilian fighter has come full circle.

Magalhães most recently served as Chael Sonnen‘s jujitsu coach prior to Sonnen’s rematch against Anderson Silva at UFC 148.
