UFC London Results: Nathaniel Wood Submits Jose Alberto Quinonez

British prospect Nathaniel Wood met Jose Alberto Quinonez in a featured main-card bantamweight bout at UFC on ESPN+ 5.

The 25-year-old Wood (15-3) will make his third walk to the Octagon on Saturday. He most recently defeated Andre Ewell at UFC 232 last December. As for Quinonez (7-2). After losing his first official UFC fight, he has rattled off four straight wins. A win over the highly touted Wood could elevate Quinonez’ stock considerably.

Round One

Quinonez lands a leg kick to start. Wood comes back with one of his own and lands a right hand. Quinonez looks for a takedown as he clinches Wood around the body. He drags Wood to the canvas and circles Wood. Wood hits a switch and gets back to his feet. Nicely done by the Brit. He throws a push kick that backs Quinonez up. Wood is throwing the left low leg kick quite often here early on. Quinonez fires one a leg kick off. Wood lands a straight right hand, he follows that with a jab that drops Quinonez. Wood looks for the darce choke, Quinonez spins out and gets to his feet. Quinonez throws a head kick. Wood connects on a leg kick. The fighters trade leg kicks and Wood cracks Quinonez with a right hand. Quinonez comes back with a one-two. Wood shoots a takedown as the round ends.

Round Two

Wood throws a leg kick that takes Quinonez off his feet briefly to start round two. Quinonez gets back up and eats a right hand. He grabs Wood and looks for a trip. Quinonez is pressing Wood up against the cage but Wood throws an elbow and breaks free. Again, Wood is relentless with the leg kicks. He is firing one after another. Wood misses a left hook and Quinonez dips under to grab the British fighter. Wood scrambles and takes Quinonez down. He spins to the back and locks in a choke. He sinks in his hooks and that’s a wrap.
