UFC Fight Night 61 went down last night (February 22, 2015) from the Gigantinho Gymnasium in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, presented live on Fox Sports 1. It was an exciting night of fights, in which 10 of the betting favorites were actually upset by the underdogs.

In the main event of the evening, heavyweight mainstay and former champion Frank Mir took on Brazil’s heavy handed slugger Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva. Mir, who was coming off of a terrible four-fight losing streak, undoubtedly had a lot to prove and he did just that. In under two minutes, Mir landed a huge left hook that sent Silva to the canvas, finishing him off with a flurry of strikes to earn an impressive TKO victory.

Overall, it was an entertaining card, and today (February 23, 2015), the Brazilian Athletic Commission has released the medical suspensions to MMAJunkie. The fighters were not hit too hard, with “Bigfoot” getting the worst of it, a two month suspension after his third knockout loss in his last four fights.

Co-main eventers Michael Johnson and Edson Barboza both received 45-day suspensions. The two battled it out for three rounds, in which Johnson took the unanimous decision win.

All 22 of the fighters on the card received suspensions of at least 14 days with seven days of no contact training, but some received longer suspensions.
