UFC Fight Night 72’s main card kicked off with a lightweight matchup between Leonardo Mafra and Stevie Ray in Glasgow, Scotland. Mafra rebounded from a submission loss to Rick Story when he bested Cain Carrioza back in March 2015. Ray hoped to make his home country proud by extending his winning streak to four.

“Braveheart” threw a high kick early on to the delight of the crowd. He went off balance on the second high kick, but didn’t suffer any consequence. Mafra was able to find a left and right leg kick. Ray went for a spinning wheel kick, but it missed. He connected with a right hand. Mafra charged in, but was blasted with a right hand to the head that wobbled him. Ray went on the attack with punches to the head. “Macarrao” was trying to cover up and fight back, but the damage was too great and eventually he went down for good.
