It looks like if Nick Diaz does indeed make his return to the UFC Octagon, his long called-for title shot will have to wait until he beats a top-level opponent. Last seen in a razor-thin and controversial loss to Carlos Condit last February, Diaz stated he would retire from MMA. Either way, he was put on hold when he failed a test for marijuana metabolites, prompting his much-publicized battle and subsequent suspension with the NSAC. Dana White recently revealed the following:

Jon Jones explained why he decided to face Chael Sonnen after suggesting that Sonnen didn’t deserve a shot at his light heavyweight title.
The UFC President held a conference call to explains how he came to the decision that Jon Jones and Chael Sonnen would be coaches for the next season of TUF.
Speaking on FuelTV’s “UFC Tonight” last night, Light Heavyweight challenger and TUF coach-to-be Chael Sonnen has already begun his next round of epic smack talk, this time focused on his next opponent Jon Jones. To that, he replied quickly:
“Well, probably by elimination. I got nobody out there that’s willing
How the hell did we go from Jon Jones and Chael Sonnen not happening and UFC 151 being cancelled to Sonnen and Jones coaching TUF and fighting on April 27, 2013? What about that Silva-Jones super fight?
With November’s Strikeforce card going up in smoke, one has to wonder what the future will hold for the organization and one of it’s top heavyweight, Daniel Cormier.
Apparently, even if Dana White could have gotten Anderson Silva to say ‘yes’ to a superfight with Jon Jones, that fight would have had to wait for quite some time anyhow. Breaking news comes that Jones will act as coach on the next season of The Ultimate Fighter, and will be pitted against former Middleweight title challenger and trash-talk specialist Chael Sonnen. The two were almost on their way to a UFC 151-saving bout on September 1st before the now-infamous incident of Jones turning down the fight.
