Compustrike: TUF 13 Finale by the numbers

Saturday’s TUF 13 Finale was truly a mixed bag of fights. From epic finishes to stand up battles and grappling clinics, the event had something for everybody. The co-main event between Anthony Pettis and Clay Guida was expected to be a battle for the ages. Both fighters with clashing styles going head to head for a chance at the Lightweight championship. If Anthony Pettis won that fight he would get the WEC / UFC unification bout he’s been waiting for. If Clay Guida wins he’ll finally get his shot after

TUF 13 Finale Recap: Guida turns Showtime into No-time

The last WEC Lightweight champion of the world Anthony “Showtime” Pettis finally made his long awaited UFC debut against Clay “The Carpenter” Guida at the TUF 13 Finale. Fresh off his “Showtime Kick” victory against Ben Henderson, the Mixed Martial Arts world was buzzing with anticipation to see how the former champ would do again one of the UFC’s best. Both fighters have very unorthodox and unpredictable styles that would clash in this bout, but in the end Guida’s brand

The Ultimate Fighter 13 Recap and Finale Preview

My final two cents:
This was probably the fastest two months of my life. It seems like yesterday when I turned on my television to watch the season premier of TUF 13 back in March. I know I’ve been a very strong critic during my time providing recap and analysis of the thirteenth season, but I feel like this season ended on a very positive note despite my personal feelings towards this series. I still believe that this show needs a lot of improvement and changes, but it’s merely subjective. Some people

TUF 13 Diary: Episode 9 Recap and Analysis

TUF 13 Episode 9 recap:
-Team JDS’ Zach Davis is very excited about facing Team Lesnar’s Chuck O’Neil in a rematch. Last fight he showcased his grappling abilities, but now he wants to improve his striking to get a knockout victory over Chuck O’Neil.
-In Chuck’s last fight because of his performance over Javier Torres in the wildcard match, UFC President Dana White gave O’Neil a $5000 fight bonus. Chuck’s good friend Charlie Rader is having problems in his personal family life. Because the two have a very

TUF 13 Diary: Episode 8 Recap and Analysis

Sometimes I feel like a broken record when watching TUF. To be honest and I think I could speak for a big chunk of you Lowkickers out there, but the 13th season of The Ultimate Fighter reality TV show hasn’t wowed me. The only guy that really stood out for me was Team dos Santos member Ryan McGillivray. But other than him there hasn’t been a moment of brilliance on the show yet that has led me to believe that we have a bona fide Mixed Martial Arts superstar coming out of this show. TUF in the past

TUF 13 Diary: Episode 7 Recap and Analysis

Last week’s episode of The Ultimate Fighter 13 was a doubleheader of action-packed fights that saw both Team Lesnar and Team dos Santos earning wins. The wildcard fight between Team JDS’ Javier Torres vs. Team Lesnar’s Chuck O’Neil was announced and Junior dos Santos said goodbye to assistant coach Lew Polley. In three weeks time two of the finalists from TUF 13 will square off for a UFC contract at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, headlined by a bout between Clay Guida and Anthony Pettis.
I am very

TUF 13 Diary: Episode 5 Recap and Analysis

It’s been nearly a month since I started this diary and followed season thirteen of The Ultimate Fighter. From the four episodes I’ve seen so far, I just haven’t been personally entertained or impressed. We already knew prior to the airing of this series that coaches Brock Lesnar and Junior dos Santos have had little to no animosity towards each other. From conference calls to interviews, both men seem to have a mutual respect for each other.
Which is a refreshing change from previous TUF seasons, however

TUF 13 Diary: Episode 4 Recap and Analysis

The last episode of The Ultimate Fighter had Brock Lesnar explain to his team what a chicken s*** salad is, we saw a possible “trader” from Team Lesnar hang out with Team dos Santos, and a pretty exciting bout between Ryan McGillivray and Len Bentley. It ended with McGillivray getting the majority decision over Bentley. Team dos Santos is now 2-1 in the show and once again they earned the right to pick their next fight.
-JDS seemed to be in very good spirits after Ryan McGillivray’s victory
