UFC Middleweight Mark Munoz debuted some disappointing news today as he revealed he may be out for up to an entire calendar year. Injuring his foot significantly in training for his loss to Chris Weidman in July, Munoz is unsure if his foot was broken, and how badly. Munoz commented on his injury today via FightHubTV.com:
“I hurt my foot training for the Weidman fight; I was training with Jason (Miller) inside the cage and my foot got caught. I am not sure if it is broken. I will be getting an
Vitor Belfort will challenge Jon Jones for the Light Heavyweight championship in the UFC 152 main event on September 22 at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto. Beltor was supposed to face Alan Belcher at Middleweight at UFC 153 in Brazil, this October, but when a fighter has a chance of reclaiming a former title he has to take it.This chance came up due to the cancellation of UFC 151 in Las Vegas when Dan Henderson withdrew due to injury and reigning champion Jon Jones declined a replacement in the form of
It appears that the trash talk of Alistair Overeem is still under Junior dos Santos’ skin. Speaking in an interview with Tatame.com, dos Santos had a few strong words about the former top contender to his title who was found to have elevated levels of Testosterone last April prior to UFC 146. Obviously 2012 has been a year that held huge potential for MMA. While I wouldn’t say it was a horrible year for fighting, the insane amount of injuries and other controversy that wrecked cards is unprecedented. From main events all the way down to preliminary cards, we saw an unheard never of fights shifted, canceled, and just generally thrown into the muck. UFC 151’s cancellation was just the icing on the cake in what was the weirdest year MMA has ever seen. And it’s not over yet. Let’s take a look
Today UFC officials announced that Joe Lauzon will face Gray Maynard in a Lightweight bout official for UFC 155 on December 29th. Lauzon, fresh off of his Fight and Submission of the Night-winning performance versus Jamie Varner at UFC on Fox 4, looks to ride that momentum to a title shot in the stacked Lightweight division. In his way Gray Maynard stands, himself looking to climb back into the title picture after defeating onetime contender Clay Guida in a bizarre fight this June.
