With 2010 coming to an end it’s safe to say this has been a huge year for the sport of mixed martial arts. As 2011 approaches we get one step closer to becoming recognized as a mainstream sport.

With a proposed bout between Alistair Overeem and Bobby Lashley now dead and buried, “The Reem” was left searching for an opponent. But just a few short hours ago, rumours surfaced of a potential fight with Former UFC Heavyweight Todd Duffee.
Reports were quick to surface that an agreement was possible, with both sides locked in tense negotiations earlier today, and it looks like the fight will go ahead with Duffee releasing the following message via his own Facebook:

MMAWeelky.com has revealed that sources close to negotiations have said a heavyweight bout between Fedor Emelianenko and Antonio ”Big Foot” Silva is in the works for StrikeForce’s January event in 2011. It appears that M-1 Global have come to an agreement with StrikeForce and Fedor will return to the cage as early as January.Â

Strikeforce Heavyweight Champion Alistair ”The Demolition Man” Overeem has responded to Dana White’s recent comments about him, where Dana claimed that anyone who has Overeem in their top 10 is stupid. Overeem also said that Brock Lesnar shouldn’t even be considered in the top 5 in the Heavyweight division.
“[Expletive] great guy. I like Overeem. I have nothing but respect for him. But it’s an absolute [expletive] joke that anybody would rank him in the top 10. And anybody that wants to debate with me, and tell me why Alistair should be ranked, [expletive] fire away. I’m ready. I want to hear it. Can’t wait.
